Actually, the reason that you're taught to use the same foot for both the gas and brake is so that you don't stomp down on both at the same time and cause a wreck. [:)]

LOL! Frank, actually I learned to drive in a manual so I am with you bud!
So inertial dampners, joysticks and neurons firing behind, we know if we ever have to switch CAV cockpits there is going to be some serious confusion ;)

Guys, just pray that you don't stall a CAV the first time you climb in the cockpit, due to previous trained reactions driving cars, or there will be laughs to go around.

*Ok, this foot goes AARRGGGG!!!!(CAV comes to a screeching halt) Damn foot's caught under the damn pedal again, Help!!!"[:D][:D][:D]

Clutch is the stupidest thing invented by man [:)]

I'm with Chrome here about causing wreck.. first time I drove a car with automatic tranny I pushed breaks hard because pedal was so wide and I forgot that I was driving with automatic [:D] why I did that? because I was told only how to drive manual *always use your left leg to push clutch*.... practice makes the champ and now I hate manual tranny

Are CAVs started with keys? pilot with poor memory is just bucled up with his machine and then realises he forgot his keys to table of mcFastBurger where he just left (yeah CAV is parked to truck stop)[;)]

Break it! if you can't, kill it!

Sounds like the Scorpion crews are decked out in the Lazy-Boy seats, like the drivers seat in the M1A2 Abrams.

Talk about riding in style.[:D]

Okay Chrome, I'll accept that's a valid reason as well.. and yes Wolf it'd be a tad embarassing to do that :o)

Red5, I would have expected as much anyway... and I've thought about this as part of my league progression idea - you move a crew then you have to accept a negative modifier for the first battle or two to make up for them being unused to the CAV.

Would need tracking which designs each crew has used though.... which is why it hasn't had much thought spent on it :o)

I think crew tracking is a cool idea, and wouldnt be too hard really. Also, I am not sure but didnt Matt mention something along this line before, about Scorpion crews having problems in other CAVs?

The Scorpion and Ogre, and I believe the Spider as well, but have side by side crews which makes for a different experience.

I think the post you're refering too was when the Scorpion's screw laid on their stomachs to fit in their cockpits. This has been changed to normal cockpit seats so I don't think the problem would be much of a problem :o)

Tell you what Red5, I'll work out some of my ideas for a Crew Tracking Sheet and see what you think :o)

When did that happen? Are they only accepting midgets as Scorp pilots now?

Oh I dunno, but I've seen it on one of the forums somwehere... in the same thread Wolf accused me of singing to/with my wizzo since we're now sat side by side in the Ogre.

Normal cockpit consoles and chairs, just like any other CAV, but just side by side like the A6 Intruder.

And remember, the Scorpion isn't exactly in N-scale :o)

It was the thread where FF posted his painted Ogre mini. It got erased in the hack. I remember what you're talking about now. I'm the one who said that the Ogre's crew was side by side like in the Scorp and Spider, but I never said that the Scorp crew sat in chairs.

ASAIK, there's never been a change to the "sled" layout of their cockpit.

I remember some of that thread. To had that rat fink of a hacker dumped it.[}:)]

Lets find him so I can show him how to rappel out of a helicopter without a rope at around 1500 feet.

ah rapelling out of a crashhawk, those were the days.....

Frank, cant wait to see it man! By the way as for the differences in scorpion and most other CAVs, I was picturing it as sort of the difference between chopper pilots and jet pilots, they are both pilots but the machines work so drastically different that they dont cross over much. Maybe not so drastic but you see what I am getting at? Of course with AIs and futuristic computers it may be a moot point altogether!

No probs Red, I'll mail it during the next couple of weeks (god, I hate assignment time at college :o()

And I could have sworn that the thread was on the Reaper forums... and that the Scorpion was said to have proper controls.

Don't matter much though.

And no Wolf, Mad and Leech don't sing in battle... hell they don't even need to talk in battle :o)

ButterFlyTank was looking for this thread.

Besides this is a really good refenerce material for CAV fiction. Maybe it should be pinned?
