UTDF TACCOM Center
7th Division SOCOM
From:Principle War Cheif Ramsey Parker

Subject:Expedition orders
To: Principle War Chief Charles Cruz

I understand your concern, Charles, but we are in the dark just like you. Plan accordingly, and be ready for anything. Stay on Protocal, hopefully our uneasiness would be the worst of this situation.

Parker out...

"Burton!" Kyle yelled loud enough to wake One Eye from his nap. As a matter of fact it was loud enough to not only wake him but make him leap from his chair and fall flat on his face.
"What?" He shot back grumpily as he picked himself up and dusted his jacket off.
"Got a package." The large black infantryman tossed a box that had been sufficiently beat up to have obvious gone through Galactic standard postal.
"What is it?" He asked irritated, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Kyle flipped the box lids open to reveal a large stiff mass of what appeared to be fur.
"It appears to be a dead animal of some sort." He picked the corpse up with his combat knife and held it across the desk for Burton to study with his one good eye. Jack stared at it then glared at Burton.
"Is this some kind of joke?"
"I don't believe so sir. It's from someone calling themselves Leein. It came with a note that offered complements to the commander of the Lucky 8's." Kyle shrugged and tossed the stiff, 6 legged creature back in the box it arrived in.
"Some sort of threat or somethin'? We piss off someone named Leein lately?"
"Don't know, don't recall the name. We're in communication with CETFOR right now trying to confirm if its one of theirs or not."

"She is beautiful, ain't she" Avery said to Thorn

"She better be worth the effort that went into the raid that got her" Jeran shot back. "We lost 3 men, including Ngyuen."

"All I know about that is that the pilot of that CAV was definitely not human." Avery responded solemnly. "He was even shooting the bases security force."

"I don't like the unknown. Worse yet, I have a feeling that this unknown is known to us." Thorn mused, only half talking out loud.

"What do you mean" Avery was confused.

"I'll tell you when I'm sure. No let's put that new beast to work." Thorn shook off the bad feeling he was getting. "You sure about the new unit's color scheme?"

"100%"

“Stand at… Ease.”

Upon orders the soldiers of Tango 1st Ranger Group shifted their position, while Tomahawk Chief Gabriel Espanosa quickly reviewed his inventory reports. It had been a long night, and most of the Ranger group had been up most of the night prepping for deployment.

“Listen up, Rangers! TACCOM has already briefed you about the seriousness of our mission. At 0930hrs, we need to have the Hercules fully loaded and prepped for our 1000hrs departure. We’re going to dock directly to the Ramirez so our loading ritual is nil; thank the brass up top, this is probably the way it’ll be from now on. Hoah!”

“Hoah!” the rangers were motivated by the news. Deployment drills were often a chore; they would have to load their equipment onto their shuttles, then once docked at Station Namida, transfer their equipment over to their transports. With the Hercules, the Rangers bypassed Station Namida altogether and docked directly to the transports.

“OK, Top has authorized delta level operation parameters, however only if our people come under attack. We’ll conduct some recon from orbit, get some info on these lizard people and be home in time for some astro-crunchies. Hoah!”

“Hoah, If this turns out to be a fight, then we come home each with a pair of lizard skin boots!” One of the rangers blurted out.

“Hoah!” The Ranger formation was in a stir of testosterone and gung ho bravado.

“OK, at ease. You got your orders, men. Complete tactical load outs and stand by for deployment. Tomahawk….. Attention!” Chief Espanosa ordered

“On my command of fall out, you fall out….. Fall out!”

In the Jungle terrain of the Leeins people they watch the unknowns come farther into their homeland they prebarded to attack their invaders. A larger formed came to then " hold your fire my brothers, on the orders of our great cheif Mhray we are to let them expolre our land freely but to keep close watch for anything that does not fit" AS the Unknowns moved father the Leein moved with them weapons ready if needed be but also to be their if they were attacked by the monsters of the Leein's wolrd and no one could contane the beast's but the Leein themselves who have learn to live along side them. They move slowely like a Tiger on the hunt no matter to their unseen eyes they were surreroned by the Leein everyone commanded by General Hiss himself and untill their tension were found out they would not leave their side

Joint communique to Tomahawk Chief Gabriel Espanosa and the commander of the Lucky 8's, From Neitchze Von Ribbit:

Gentlemen, greetings.

It has come to my attention that the actions upon the Leein homeworld were precipitated by the receipt of a handsomely boxed dead animal, a marsupial of some descriotion, I am led to believe.

It is therefore my duty to inform you that in certain primitive cultures, such a gift is considered a sign of respect, a "sharing of the kill" as is seen in certain predatory animal species.

Thus, I advise restraint and further diplomatic efforts, lest this become a tragedy of great proportions.

Yours sincerely,
Neitcheze Von Ribbit
titles, etc.

Aboard the Ramirez

Ramirez is clearing the gates of Station Namida now and is expected to rendevous with the UFF commitee on Terra sometime in the next week. from there we will move to establish contact, possibly from Kiatos Prime.

We actually recieved reports of various governments recieving these gifts and figured as much.

Our mission is not to engage if possible but to protect our exploration teams and establish diplomatic contact. Our recon activity is standard operating procedure and allows us the means to protect ourselves should these Leein prove hostile.

Should they become hostile and we sincerely hope they do not, we will defend ourselves by any and all means.

The rangers were under way. Everyone was tired from the lack of sleep and constant activity, but discipline forced them to sit through the equipment briefing without even a yawn.

“This is the Lakota generation 20 Night vision enhanced spectra helmet with 3D graphic HUD and internal SATCOM set. The helm features filter modes for ultraviolet, spectrographic and infrared imaging but since our reptiles buddies are cold blooded, we will be bringing several portable resonance scanners.

“OK, here is our first step in halting any hostiles, without killing anyone and creating an incident. This here is a cute little device, which operates like a blanket screamer; it emits a signal in a frequency inaudible by humans but according to tests conducted back home, it causes animals, and reptiles to get sick. Should our reptile friends decide to play, they’ll spend the next few hours soiling their pants.”

“Sir, they are lizards, do they even wear pants?”

“Knock it off Ruiz!”

“OK, should they become hostile, here are some more toys you might like to play with” Technical advisor Richard Morrissey holds up a 20 round magazine and points to several rounds on the table before him.

“OK, we do know some reptiles have thick hides, so the brass has authorized some special ammunition to soften them up so to speak. First up is 5.5mm explosive tipped round; pretty common actually, but we will be using this as one of our standard ammo types for this mission.”

“Hoah!” several of the rangers nodded their head in dangerous approval “oh hell yeah”

Richard continued
“Yeah, you know, the bang, bang, but here is where it gets interesting, this here is the 5.5mm Acid tipped round. Upon physical impact, the pressure of the flesh head triggers the acid and eats away at the flesh from inside the wound. We have been issued a truckload for this mission so Top wants you to load 2 after each explosive tipped round.”

“The idea is to crack open any of their natural body armor, which if is anything like the reptiles back home, should be thick. Once the armor is open, the two acid tipped round impact around the open wound and do their work. Weapons will be set to 3 round burst at all times, and extra magazines is a requirement.”

"Here is the 20mm nanotech mini-grenade, works like the launcher, but in the jungle, there is a good chance combat will be close ranged. This booger will screw up the repair systems of any vehicle that we do come across in the jungle; then we can fade, and pick them off at our convenience. If they even have any logistics capability, that’ll keep them tied up.”Mr. Morrissey paused for a bit, then reached for the claymore mine sitting on the table and propped it foreword.

“If we have to establish a perimeter in the jungle, we will use the standard DET cord, trip wire flare setup, but we have a little variation for our heavy claymore mines. This is also a single directional mine with remote detonator, but it lets out a blast of polystyrene and good ole willy pete, the stuff burns even in the rain and sticks to the body like sh*t on a blanket.”

“Lets hope it doesn’t come down to any of this; they wanted to make contact, OK we’re coming. But Command isn’t taking any chances. This ain’t gonna be like the Mangus. Boys, we’re coming to the Pow Wow, ready to box, hoah!”

Chief Espanosa pondered on the reflection of time. It had been several weeks since they departed Awenasa and arrived on the Leein home world. The delegation had dropped to the planet earlier, but looked like they were in trouble when several lizards ghosted them on arrival. Chief Espanosa didn’t know how to interpret these actions so he ordered a full incursion onto the Leein home world.

“These hiss-heads wanted us to meet their chief and now they were playing the jungle boogie”

The fenri’s had dropped the scouts further inland about 4 hours ago, and once the sun went down, the rangers made a seaside incursion close to the Leein capitol. They arrived on the mainland via rafts and into the jungle delta. From there, they exited the rafts and proceeded single file deeper into the jungle. The CAVs were on stand by, for further incursions.

Ruiz was on point and gave the hand signal to halt. He pointed to his eyes and then, into the direction of the bush.

“Several hiss-heads ghosting us sir. Should we engage?” He whispered in the comset.

“Negative, Ruiz; they’re just scouting us. Keep moving; let them think we don’t know we’re on to them, that’ll build their self confidence, and maybe initiate formal contact. Remember we’re not here to start anything, just protect our people”

“Gotcha, sir. Moving.”

“We got full intel on the Hiss Heads Jack.” Jack Sakawashi said as he stepped into Jacks office on the cruiser ‘Tir na Nog’.
Jack raised an eyebrow quizzically. “Hiss heads?” He asked. Sakawashi blushed slightly.
“The Leein sir. Sorry, the intel we got from the Tango Rangers refers to the Leein as “hiss Heads”
“I wonder how Cord would feel if we referred to his Rach brethren as ‘nashers?” Jack said as he studied the intel. Sakawashi cringed when Jack mentioned the Terran slur for the Rach.
“Sorry Sir.” He said.
Jack nodded. “Where did they get CAV? The explorer Corps report made no mention of the race much less industrial capabilities.” Sakawashi swung around the desk to study the documents Old One Eye was looking at.
“They don’t make ‘em. They’ve been shipping them in a little bit at a time over the last two years. Apparently they are smarter and more capable then they let on. They are stand offish but we think they will warm up to us when we arrive and show them we are friendly.”
Jack read the reports quietly for a few moments as Sakawashi hulked over him.
“Anything else of interest?”
“Well sire, they’re supposed to be capable warriors, they understand close combat seemingly inherently. And uh, according to the Tango Rangers, their mating ritual is uh, public and more violent then, and I quote ‘A pack of Rach whose CAV soccer team is losing.’.”
Burton snorted. “Leave it to the Rangers to get right to the important stuff.” Sakawashi chuckled.
“Well, according to the Rangers the Hi-. The Leein are not shy about it.”
Jack through the pile of papers down on the table and stood. “What’s out ETA?”
“Just under 12 hours sir. We should make planet fall by O-dark thirty.”

As more of the unknowns poored in General Hiss grew more and more uneasy so he desided to confront them face to face before his leader Mhray did " I wantssss all of yousssss to stay here it would looksss cowardly ifssss u followed messsss"

General Hiss walked down to meet them with no fear in his eyes, he carried a bloodend axe and a long spear like weapon and it was good for Hand to Hand combat and but was able to shoot poisons from it and the posison it shoots could tear through even the toughist CAV armor and was his favite weapon, he also wore little armor hides on his chest for he did not need much for he had a lot of naturl armor unable to be peiced by any weapon but his he wore more armor for he did not know what the unknown's weapons could do....he countied down to meet his foe

First one, then two red dots appeared on the forehead of the Leein leader as he approached the Ranger position. Several assault rifles were trained on the Leein leader from the bush where several Rangers equipped with guilly suits slowly rose. Chief Espanosa motioned for Ruiz to gently lower his weapon; he did however keep it at the ready. Should the Leein leader become hostile, the snipers were ready to ventilate his cranial plate.

“OK, lizard man. First order of business, what happened to the delegation team we sent earlier; they are the diplomats here, not us; we came down here when your people moved in on ours. Now we have no intentions of conflict with your people, but that depends on you.”

“Sir, I don’t think he understands you.”

“Well Ruiz, give the message to the Ramirez, we’ve initiated formal contact. Prepare to give live Intel to the Snowstorm Company and coordinate our TACOPs to assist them. We’ll open the logistics chain from orbit and give them access to our ammunition. I’m not sure what to make of the 8s being here; last I heard they were on Cassini.”

“Not all of them sir, perhaps we can get the location out of them; some of the guys are still a little peeved about the incident at Hydra.”

“Yeah, we’ll see about that; but priority is these Leein, be on your guard!”

“Sir, I think the hiss head is asking us to follow him.”

“OK, transmit our position to the Snowstorm via GPS. If the sh*t hits the fan, Lone Wolf Company has an open contract available for Commander Drake to secure our evac. Our mission is to get our people back, and if it turns to actions on the ground, we’ll be running recon for Snowstorm until our troops arrive.”

Hesitantly the rangers followed the Leein leader into the bush.

General Hiss was leading the Rangers to the hunting grounds of the Leein, as they walked Green eyes apeered out of everywere and were all watching closey. When the reached the Hunting grounds a hunting party came to meet them

" General Hissss, we have brought our new friends a gift "
They throw a dead beast in front of the rangers

" my brotherssss our friendsss do not know what this means, do u not see their fear in their eyes?"

" forgivesss usssss"
they picked up the beast and walked away.As they moved on throw the hunting grounds all could be seen, wild beast not known to them , kids playing in the feilds and even hunting themselves!A child went up to Ruiz and pulled him away from the group to play with the child and his friends, confused Ruiz followed, for he had no choice for tow reasons, one if he refused it was rude and the Leein might not like that, and the child was pulling at strengh of a full adult. At the grounds the Rangers saw the true feorsicyt of the Leein. General Hiss himself showed the Rangers how strong he was by takeing down a herd of giant beasts

"Strength and chest beating don't impress me; if it bleeds we can certainly kill it. Ruiz, get back here!" Cheif Espanosa commanded."Leein chief, you are interpreting us all wrong. we are not here to be the diplomats."

Ruiz returned to the formation. "The diplomats we sent have already been planetside earlier, now where are they!"

Cheif Espanosa ordered one of the rangers to ready the 1A1 Grenade Launcher.

"Your race seems to value strength and courage, OK, strength and courage it is." Upon orders the ranger pointed the 1A1 grenade launcher in the direction of the herd, the cheif had just wrestled.

WOOOOOM, the grenade detonated in the center of the herd, killing a few and scattering the rest. the villagers of course were in shock; Cheif Espanosa obviously saw that the Leein were testing their courage. Fear is not an option to any Terran Ranger, the sooner the Leein saw that, the better.

"I trust we have your attention now! We'll compensate you for the animals, but back to business." Cheif Espanosa ordered his men to stand fast. "You brought us here, so now what is it you want?"

The rangers could sense the growing sentiment with the Leein, but the men were indifferent. N'dee people had always been reactionary, and although they were subject to the same fears and woes as any other Terran, they're aggressiveness more than made up for any of their 'Human Shortcomings'. Some just figured they were damn crazy.

"Ruiz, plot out an LZ and relay the coordinates to the Snowstorm. If we must evacuate under hostile actions, have the birds on stand by to drop some napalm to cover our exit. We'll burn the whole freakin' jungle around them if we have to." Cheif Espanosa turned to the Leein Cheif.

"So for the last time, where are the people we sent earlier."
